This VDay had been a little different... there was a party which was not really great bcos it happens to be the only insti party i attended but did not do anything :(
how was this time different from the rest of the times? i received a compliment from the fairer sex about my hair-cut (yeah i had a hair cut but that has to wait till my next blog)
Now, what i dont understand is, whether i should feel better at this small improvement or pity myself for being such a loser...
let me hope next time to be better (probably a hug :( )

Need to calm down...
for the past few days (read: since my comp stopped working) i am not being myself... the usual adi who thinks for ages before making any spend was so depressed that he started making hasty decisions...
today i went and bought myself an Apple iShuffle 1 GB... ya it is a very cool gadget and fulfils my need of music (these 2 years i got so addicted to listening to all crap 24X7... even when i am sleeping, the music goes on... hence this huge fear of silence)
But the point is all the haste that went into this... from getting the idea of buying an ishuffle till executing it, everything was executed in just a couple of hours... i am sure i can get back to normal and i will be my own self in the long run... but it is the immediate future (Read: the placements are already here) that is troubling me further ( as if the problems i already hv are not enough)
i dont want to end up taking a job i dont like or miss a gr8 job, just bcos of a hasty decision... may the good lord give me(and every 1 else) the strength to fight for the dream jobs...
now enjoying the music from this gadget which should be a gr8 friend of mine from now... bbye

It was really a big surprise!!!
Ya, last month when i received my pre-placement offer and my best project award (i don't wanna mention the name of the award as my case has been taken a million times on the campus using the name) from Wipro, i was totally surprised as i was expecting neither of them in the first place.
the biggest example that i was not in a position to work happens to be this blog which was created during the period and its first entry which received good appreciation was also written then. it was the last one week of effort probably that could have resulted in such an outcome.
anyways guys... the jist of the blog is, i am still totally surprised!!!

The Wildlife of IIM Lucknow!!!
was wondering for a long time on what to write next. yesterday nights incident gave me a chance to fill this useless blogpage...
the plush green IIM Lucknow campus (200 acres in all) houses a jungle in the center. in recent times, wildlife started drifting out of the jungle. could the reason for these instances be the building of the new GMP hostels which is eating away into a small part of the jungle? this part though small is very important as it forms a link between two big patches of the jungle. this construction divides the huge jungle into two small pieces, restricting the movement of these animals.

The yellow patch you see in the IIML map above is the place where the new hostel is getting constructed. this clearly divides the forest into two parts as shown on the left and right sides of the construction site.
All i wonder is, what is gonna happen to this place when more jungle is devasted to build in new hostels and class rooms in next few years to accomodate the increased batches of students thanks to the OBC reservations (sorry if this statement is offensive!!! but i have my own reasoning)
now to hear about some wildlife of IIM Lucknow... this place is inundated with a number of birds like peacocks, kuils, mynahs, woodpeckers... also the seasonal visitors like cranes.
there was word that a fox was once seen a little away from the main gate. Personally i have seen a nilgai. it is a wild animal frmo the cow family and is much larger than the domestic cow.
sorry, the picture is not very clear. but the animal is very huge.
recently my neighbours have seen a huge sized chamaleon in their balcony. my personal experience is the night when i went jogging alone and saw two porcupines cross the road a little in front of me. another recent visitor is the huge monitor lizard that roams the new hostel 13.
this is the picture of the monitor lizard which is atleast 5 feet in length. it is an expert in crawling walls
talking of these reptiles, snakes are not very uncommon on campus.
this is the picture of the russell viper that lives near hostel 5. this is only an example and there are many instances of snakes being spotted at different points of time.
lastly! coming to the reptile spotted yesterday. a huge python.

the above pics show parts of the about15 feet long python spotted yesterday near the director's residence.
after so many animals, no idea what the next one is gonna be!!!
